About Me

I am Jesse Jones. Most people call me Jesse or even just Jess, to my annoyance. My journey with programming began in March of 2018 with my first Python "Hello, World!" program. From there, I explored Python further until starting my undergraduate studies in 2020. Through these studies, I learned much in the way of computer functionalities, data structures, algorithms, code structures, ethics, and all the standard trimmings of a Computer Science Bachelor's.

Following graduation of the program with a Summa Cum Laude and celebrations in May of 2024, I got to work hunting for jobs. Unfortunately for me, it was just about the worst possible time to do so, resulting in a year of wasted time searching fruitlessly for employment that used my degree.

After 1300 applications and much suffering pushing through a broken market, I managed to get a basic job in May of 2025. While it had nothing to do with what I studied, it gave me a sense of purpose and a pretty good workout each day. This stabilization of my life allowed me to return to coding projects and tinkering in my spare time, such as writing 6502 assembly for the Commodore 64, or optimizing projects that I already made.

Following the breakthrough in May of 2025, I decided to go back to school and pursue a Master's in Computer Science with my own reasons for doing so but largely because it's cool stuff. In August of 2025, I began this path and learned much: compilers, cryptography, embedded systems, machine learning, and networking. These classes unlocked whole new areas of computers I only knew the broadstrokes of before, giving me an even deeper appreciation for them. While doing school, I continued working, pulling up to 34 hour weeks while still excelling, needing but a single cup of green tea only a handful of times in 2 semesters. Truly, my work ethic is almost frightening.

Now, it's 2026 and I'm halfway through my Master's with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Despite the raging fires consuming the market, I am optimistic about eventually being able to use my abilities. I likely will go into embedded systems, network engineering, compilers, or cyber security, as those are all interesting fields to me that are quite practical and would distinguish me from a generic developer.

Ignoring my history with computers and my career I'm slowly developing, I also write sci-fi lore, play chill video games, and do much pondering on the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. Did I mention I can calculate a day of the week from any input date you give me? Yeah. That's a fun party trick.
